Wild About Our Reserves Appeal - Ketton Quarry
A wonderful meeting of nature, people and geology, nature is reclaiming parts of Ketton Quarry, which is still a working limestone extraction site.
An excellent site for butterflies, moths, wildflowers and reptiles, the Geology and Valley areas are unfortunately difficult to access at wetter times of the year.
In the Valley Area there are existing steps, but they are now so weathered that they never dry out. At times they can be very boggy and extremely difficult to navigate.
In the Geology Area there are no steps at all, and a steep and slippery slope prevents access to some visitors who cannot easily climb or descend.
£1,500 is needed for the tools and materials to construct approximately 90m of new steps.
The work would take approximately 6 days to construct with the help of our volunteers - and ensure visitors access to Ketton Quarry for years to come.
