Take on the nest box challenge

Looking for a fun family activity this school half-term? There is still time to book on to the Family Nestbox Challenge at the Trust’s Rutland Water Nature Reserve. Come along and build a home… or a feeder… or both… for your garden birds.

The event takes place on Saturday February 15, between 10am and 12.30pm, at the Anglian Water Birdwatching Centre. Book your places at www.rutlandwater.org.uk/event-list or call 01572 653 024. £8 per box and £1 per feeder.

National Nestbox Week starts on Valentine’s Day and birds are now starting to pair up for the new breeding season. Providing somewhere for birds to roost and breed is a great thing to do and it is the ideal time to erect a nest box in your garden, just as they start to prospect for suitable nest sites.

If you can’t make your own nest box check the shop at the Anglian Water Birdwatching Centre on your next visit to Rutland Water Nature Reserve or go Vine House Farm's website www.vinehousefarm.co.uk to see their range of nest boxes.
