Roll up for Birdfair 2011

Birdfair is the event of the year if you are ‘into’ birds and wildlife. There is something for all the family and you will be spoilt for choice because there is so much going on.

Organised by the Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust with RSPB, Birdfair is often described as the birdwatcher’s Glastonbury. It starts on Friday 19 August and for three days around 20,000 people from all over the world will converge on Rutland Water Nature Reserve at Egleton to enjoy a packed programme of events, lectures, activities, and all that 300+ exhibitors have to offer the wildlife enthusiast.

Visit the Trust’s stand (OD2) where you can

- sign The Wildlife Trust’s marine petition

- find out more about the Rutland Osprey Project

- chat to representatives of the Trust’s local groups

- discover that the seaside has been brought to Rutland Water by Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Watch! We have lots of fun activities for children of all ages including wildlife arts and crafts, puzzles and competition with prizes to be won.

Over the next three years fundraising at Birdfair will go to Birdlife International’s Flyways Programme, taking action to halt the decline of migratory birds by creating and preserving wildlife corridors that cover a number of countries.
