This year marks the centenary of The Wildlife Trusts movement and one of the ways the Wildlife Trusts are celebrating this special milestone is by holding a series of collective ‘Our Wildlife’ events throughout 2012 to encourage people to engage with nature on their local reserves.
These events start with Our Woodland Wildlife and the Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust is organising the following:
Rutland Water Nature Reserve
Woodland Day at Barnsdale Wood
Saturday 14 April, 10am – 4pm
The Trust will be celebrating with a variety of walks and children’s activities. There will be demonstrations from woodland craftsmen and women such as charcoal burning, hedge-laying and willow-weaving and there will also be number of wildlife-themed stalls. Hot food and other refreshments will be available.
Entry to the event is free, although normal Anglian Water parking charges will apply. Barnsdale Wood is located on the north shore of Rutland Water off the A606, opposite the Barnsdale Lodge Hotel.

Launde Park Wood Nature Reserve
