My Work experience at Rutland water

My Work experience at Rutland water

This week we have welcomed work experience student James, who has spent the past couple of days volunteering with the Rutland Water Nature Reserve team. Here is his account of what he's been up to.

For my first few days at my work experience at Rutland water, I worked as a volunteer for the habitats team and the visitor centre team. On the first day working for the habitats team, I did jobs such as uprooting ragwort which is a plant that’s toxic for livestock, helping herd rams and helping an Ill ram to get better. On the second day, in the morning I hedge layed willow bushes in multiple areas including behind some of the benches and also cut brambles along a path with choppers. Then in the afternoon I helped with feeding the livestock which included sheep and cows. On the third day, I worked at the visitor centre where I put together goodie bags for couples with dementia, I did birdwatching in the hides where a saw lots of birds including ospreys and I also helped fill up the bird feeders.
