What is City Nature?
City Nature ties in several different community engaegement projects that the Trust oversees. Evolving from Nextdoor Nature, which ran from 2022-2024 to bring communities together to help nature flourish where they live and work! With City Nature, we have continued with the ethos of the original Nextdoor Nature project, to grow a community of people from across our city who are taking direct action for nature, and aiming to give people the skills, tools, and opportunity to help wildlife flourish near them, and to leave a lasting natural legacy.

We want to see more wildlife-friendly areas and more people involved in taking action for nature. City Nature will connect with people across the city of Leicester giving communities the skills, tools, and opportunities to take action for nature.
If you have an idea that will help nature thrive in your area, we want to support you by providing information and resources through the Wildlife Trusts Community Hub. Ideas could be anything big or small, such as transforming a disused green space into a safe and attractive place to play, planting wildflowers for beauty and insects or start a community group that wants to create an urban wildlife safari across the city! Anything is possible when we work together.

Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust have been working with BNCHA over the last year as part of the City Nature project to help the local community transform an unsused, unloved piece of land into a community garden for all to enjoy.
