Belgrave Neighbourhood Co-operative Housing Association Community Garden

In 2025, the Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust delivered a practical gardening workshop to the Belgrave Neighbourhood Co-operative Housing Association (BNCHA). Throughout this workshop the group learnt about the how to plant to increase butterfly populations, basic gardening skills and the principles of planting; from sowing the seed to maintaining and encouraging growth for nature.

Since that inital workshop, a commuity of like-minded, wildlife enthusiasts has bloomed.

Supporting the community

Belgrave Neighbourhood attended the Hamilton Library Community Garden open day

The groups will be working together and attending each others gardening clubs to share skills and learn new gardening tips such as growing herbs for the community and nourishing and reducing our carbon footprint.

The BNCHA prides itself on being community-driven and provide for all memebers of the community, hence their partnership with The Belgrave Food Hub and Reaching People. These partnerships are a commitment that ensures access to essential food items for all members of our community.

This community-driven initiative focuses on providing basic food and rescources for all - utilising the community garden for essential rescources! The gardening group grows their own food, hebs and spices to provide for the wider community.
