About the reserve

Syston Lakes has a range of floodplain habitats that were once typical of The Soar Valley.  The lakes are situated to the south of Meadow Lane and are fringed by Willows and Common Reed.

Springtime offers you chance to hear and possibly to view Blackcap, Cetti's Warbler, Chiff-chaff, Willow Warbler, Reed Warbler and Reed Bunting.  If you are quiet, Grass Snakes could be spotted seeking their next meal.  Swans and Wildfowl are seen in most months.
