Other Volunteering Opportunities

Other opportunities

There are lots of different ways you can volunteer with Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust.

Helping in the office

We have opportunities to volunteer in our central office in Leicester or at our office base at Rutland Water to support us in areas of work including membership, fundraising, marketing, finance and HR. Please email info@lrwt.org.uk if you are interested.

Surveys and monitoring

The Wider Countryside team are looking for volunteers to help with butterfly surveys between April and September. This will involve joining a group of volunteers to go out on sunny days looking for butterflies. We are looking for volunteers to join surveys near to Newtown Linford and also Fosse Meadows. The surveys usually take between one and two hours (depending on the number of butterflies) and take place once a week. We wouldn’t expect someone to carry out surveys every week, but ask that if you do offer to help, that you carry out at least 3 surveys during the survey season. Full training is given, however these surveys are volunteer-led and each survey is arranged by the volunteers to fit in with suitable weather conditions. If you would like to find out more, please email info@lrwt.org.uk.

Volunteering with the Rutland Osprey Project

If you would like to get involved with the Rutland Osprey Project, there are a number of opportunities available including monitoring nests, supporting visitors in the hides and helping out at the Visitor Centre. To find out more please email volunteering@lrwt.org.uk
