Working with Partners

We could not achieve our vision of a thriving natural world across Leicestershire and Rutland without working with partners of all shapes and sizes. We work with landowners, companies, lotteries, grant-making Trusts, and local communities who all support our strategic ambitions to bring wildlife back, to empower people to take action for nature and to create a society where nature matters.

We believe that people taking action in the places where they live and work is a powerful force for change so through all of our relationships we look to achieve local impact.

Anglian Water – A Partnership Built on Nature Recovery

For more than 50 years, Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust and Anglian Water have demonstrated what can be achieved when conservation and business work together with a shared vision.

The partnership began in 1975, before Rutland Water Nature Reserve had even been created.

History of Rutland Water

Anglian Water

Today, Rutland Water Nature Reserve is internationally recognised as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), Special Protection Area (SPA) and Ramsar Wetland of International Importance. Covering 1,000 acres of wetlands, grassland and woodland habitats, it regularly supports more than 25,000 wintering wildfowl and has become one of Britain's premier wildlife destinations, welcoming thousands of visitors each year.

The partnership has delivered some of the UK's most celebrated conservation successes. Rutland Water is synonymous with the reintroduction of ospreys to England, becoming one of England's most important osprey strongholds.

This enduring relationship between Anglian Water and Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust stands as a nationally recognised example of how long-term corporate partnerships can create lasting environmental, social and economic value. Together, transforming what was once a newly constructed reservoir into one of Europe's finest inland wetland nature reserves

Jordans Farm Partnership

We work with the three Leicestershire farms as part of The Wildlife Trusts and Jordans Cereals farmers working together to make space for wildlife on their farms.
