With over 40,000 Local Wildlife Sites in the UK this is a well established system. In Leicestershire and Rutland we have 1,000 Local Wildlife Sites covering well over 3,000 hectares, but this is still less than 2% of the land area of the two counties.

NatureSpot is a registered charity and our trusted partner, helping people, discover, identify and record wildlife in the local places of Leicestershire and Rutland.
All records are passed on to local & national bodies & used to further conservation knowledge in Leicestershire and Rutland.

Leicestershire and Rutland are home to some incredible plants and animals. From ospreys to otters, badgers to bumblebees, wildflowers to wildfowl and red kites to red foxes, thousands of species make their home right in the heart of the UK in our two counties.
