From time to time, LRWT may need help with surveys on an ad hoc basis. This will be to meet our survey needs at the time here existing staff cannot fulfil our requirements. This could be surveying alone, as part of a team or supporting and training volunteers.
Surveying will be at sites around the Charnwood Forest – but from time to time surveyors may be needed elsewhere in Leicestershire and Rutland.
Even if your skill set does not meet foreseeable requirements, we are happy to hear from you if you have good ID skills for a range of taxa. Please send us a copy of your CV and an expression of interest for the type of surveys you would wish to be considered for. We will hold your CV and expression of interest on file for a year unless you ask otherwise.
In the near future we may have requirements for:
Botanists - surveys and supervising / training volunteers
Grassland surveyors with responsibility to train / oversee volunteers. The surveyor should be able to carry out a range of botanical surveys including rapid assessment quadrats identifying indicator species and the ability to teach and supervise volunteers carrying out these surveys. The surveyor should have intermediate botanical ID skills – equivalent to at least FISC level 4, preferably higher (https://bsbi.org/field-skills). Surveys will take place in the Charnwood Forest area.
