This year marks the centenary of The Wildlife Trusts movement and one of the ways the Wildlife Trusts are celebrating this special milestone is by holding a series of collective events throughout 2012. The first of these will be Our Woodland Wildlife and as part of this Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust is organising a Woodland Day to take place at Barnsdale Wood on 14th April. Come to the Barnsdale car park, which is located on the north shore of Rutland Water off the A606 (opposite Barnsdale Lodge Hotel).
Celebrations will begin at 10am and will continue throughout the day, finishing at 4pm.
Entry to the event is free, although normal parking charges will apply and there is no need to book.
We’ll be putting on a variety of walks and children’s activities. There will be demonstrations from woodland craftsmen and women such as charcoal burning, hedge-laying and willow-weaving and there will also be a number of wildlife-themed stalls. Hot food and other refreshments will be available.
