Thanks to a grant from the city of Toyooka in Japan, Birdfair 2018 will have a fantastic new area dedicated to its young visitors.
A large marquee will be the hub of a weekend of entertainment to help bring youngsters closer to nature. Activities range from plays, storytelling, films, guided walks, virtual pond dipping, mini-talks, origami sessions and a puffin mural.
Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust’s junior wing Wildlife Watch will be hosting a range of fund wildlife themed crafts and puzzles. The Rutland Osprey Project will give an insight into everything osprey for kid of all ages.
TV stars from the natural world will entertain the audiences including Mike Dilger, Nick Baker, Jules Howard and Adrian Cale. Authors Anneliese Emmans Dean, Edward Giles and Vicky Woodgate will read or perform a variety of shows.
Youngsters can learn how to lay a hedge, build a dry-stone wall and even go home with a wildlife-wizard wand.
Bring the whole family and help us celebrate the 30th Birdfair - and don’t forget that young people aged under 16 get free entry!
*Birdfair takes place at Rutland Water Nature Reserve on August 17, 18 and 19. Keep up to date with the latest news on the Birdfair website https://birdfair.org.uk/
