Record breaking year for Rutland ospreys

The Rutland Osprey Project has enjoyed its best year yet, with 23 adult ospreys returning to the area and a record eight pairs of breeding birds.

Visitor numbers were high – over 26,000 people came to see the ospreys at the Lyndon area of Rutland Water Nature Reserve and many more followed online and watched our webcam.

Following the departure of a juvenile at Lagoon 4, all of the ospreys have now migrated. The webcam is now offline, but click here  to watch a great video showing highlights of the 2017 season.
