Described as the Birdwatchers' Glastonbury, Birdfair is the event of the year if you are into birds and wildlife.
Organised by the Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust and the RSPB, Birdfair encompasses the whole spectrum of the birdwatching industry whilst at the same time raising funds to support global bird conservation. Since 1989 Birdfair has raised nearly £4.3million to support a wide range of important conservation projects.
Birdfair 2017 takes place from the 18th-20th August at Rutland Water Nature Reserve and we need as much volunteer help as possible!
As a volunteer, you will become an essential part of the Birdfair team and of this amazing event. A few hours of your time will make all the difference to wildlife around the world. You will receive free entry, giving you the chance to make the most of your day visiting the various exhibitors, enjoying different events and actiivities or attending one of the hundreds of lectures on offer.
We’re looking for volunteers with an enthusiastic and friendly nature, who are reliable, punctual, confident dealing with the public and who enjoy working as part of a team. We have a variety of roles you can help with, from selling tickets at the gate, taking bids at the auction, supervising the lecture theatres, being part of the site team, and many more!
We ask that you can commit to undertaking a minimum of two shifts (5 hours) during the three days Birdfair and that you attend our training and information session on Saturday 5th August 2017.
If this sounds like it’s for you, or you would like more information, Sarah Proud, our Volunteer Coordinator is looking forward to hearing from you and will be very happy to help.
Get in touch either by email ([email protected]); calling her direct line on 01572 720049; or by post: The Volunteer Training Centre, Oakham Road, Oakham, Rutland, LE15 8AD
