Children got stuck in… at Rutland Water

One cold and wet Sunday in February, seven children got stuck in…planting new hedge trees at Rutland Water Nature Reserve. They were helping the Reserve Wardens to gap up a hedge near the new 360° hide with hawthorn and blackthorn. For all the children it was the first time they had planted trees. “They really enjoyed the digging and planting. It was great they got to take practical action which will be there for such a long time,” said Tim Maddren, Wildlife Watch Volunteer Leader.

Rutland Water Wildlife Watch Activities are for children aged 5-12 years old at Anglian Water Birdwatching Centre in February, March, May, June, September, November and December. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Our next session is ‘Whose Nest is That?’ on the March 3, 10.30am-12.30pm.To book a place/s please call 01572 770 651.
