Watch out for Rutland Water Nature Reserve on BBC Countryfile on Sunday evening.
The Countryfile team, including presenters John Craven and Steve Brown, recently spent two days filming at the reserve. Among the activities rescorded were winter work parties, bird ringing, wildfowl counts, hedgelaying, children making birdfeeders, and hide building.
John joined in with replacing Lapwing hide. This hotspot for birdwatching probably has more hides than any other nature reserve in England and each year at least one hide has to be rebuilt.
Steve got to know some of Rutland Water’s winter visitors and got some tips on birdwatching and ringing from reserve officer Lloyd Park.
The programme is scheduled to air on BBC1 at 6.30pm on Sunday January 21.
