Saving the Hooded Grebe

Posted 2nd August 2017

Paula and Michael Webster have always been active volunteers for the Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust and for wildlife conservation, but this year their volunteering activities took them a bit further afield. They spent 6 months in Patagonia making a film for Aves Argentinas - the main bird conservation charity in Argentina and a BirdLife Partner.

The film highlights the plight of the Hooded Grebe, one of South America's rarest birds, and the work of a dedicated team trying to save it from extinction.

The courtship display of our Great Crested Grebe is one of the highlights of an English spring but wait till you see the amazing display of the Hooded Grebe. An incredible dance, never before filmed in its entirety, a veritable Tango in the Wind!
