The Trust’s Volunteer Training Centre at Rutland Water Nature Reserve has won another award – Best Public Service Building in the LABC (Local Authority Building Control) Building Excellence Awards 2016 East Midlands.
The award was presented at a black-tie ceremony in Leicester on 10th June that celebrated the very best construction in the region. As a winning finalist the Volunteer Training Centre will represent the region in the LABC Grand Finals to be held in London in November.
A number of local firms were involved in the design and construction of the Volunteer Training Centre including Corporate Architecture, S&S Contracting Ltd, ADM Quantity Surveyors and Diamond Wood and Shaw.
The Volunteer Training Centre provides carefully designed facilities to support and train volunteers in conservation, countryside and heritage skills. Funded by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund with further contributions from Anglian Water, charitable trusts, the Melton Building Society and a public appeal, the building is designed to sit comfortably and sympathetically in its natural setting within Rutland Water Nature Reserve.
