Trainee Reserves Officer (Voluntary) Position
The Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust is looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to become our new Trainee Reserves Officer. The successful applicant will work closely with the Reserves Officer in carrying out practical tasks on the Trust's 32 nature reserves throughout Leicestershire and Rutland and to help manage our roving volunteer group.
During the placement you will gain;
- a wide range of practical habitat management skills
- experience of volunteer leadership and recruitment
- knowledge of health and safety issues
- practical nature conservation management experience of a variety of habitats
- experience of using a variety of power and hand tools and 4 x 4 driving
This placement will equip you with a wide variety of skills and experience to help you stand out from the crowd within this highly competitive employment sector.
Applicants should be willing to commit to 4-5 days per week for a minimum of 6 months. This is a voluntary position, but we are able to provide £300 per month as a contribution towards living costs. Living local to Leicester would be an advantage but we are unable to provide accommodation.
We are looking for someone with;
- great communication and organisational skills
- basic computing skills
- a good sense of humour
- lots of enthusiasm
- the ability to use their initiative and motivate others
Previous experience is desirable (but not essential) but a full driving licence is essential.
In return we offer in house training in a variety of practical management skills, as well as accredited first aid at work, pesticide and chainsaw training as appropriate.
The closing date for applications is Friday 18th May and interviews are scheduled for Friday 1st June.
